Biography

Maryam Mohiuddin Ahmed is an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business at the University of Waterloo. She is a scholar-practitioner in social innovation, focusing on decolonial relational approaches to social entrepreneurship and systems change. Her research centers around pedagogical practices that integrate plural ways of knowing, working towards equitable and regenerative futures. Maryam co-stewards the Transition Bridges Project (TBP), a collaborative initiative that facilitates dialogue and understanding among diverse actors to address complex social challenges. She holds a PhD in Sustainability Management from the University of Waterloo, where she was named Valedictorian. Additionally, she has an LL.M. in International Law from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as B.A. and LL.B. degrees from LUMS University in Pakistan. She is also the co-founder of the Social Innovation Lab and has contributed significantly to the co-working space movement in South Asia through Daftarkhwan. Her academic inquiry is deeply connected to community-engaged learning and critical pedagogical approaches that advocate for systems-mediation experimentation.
