Massimiliano Colla is a Senior Lecturer at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). His expertise in lasers, optics, and photonics traces back to 1994 when he began undergraduate studies at Pisa, graduating with a Master's in Physics in 1996. He was awarded a scholarship by the Italian Institute of Physics to attend the International Summer School of Physics in Varenna, where he studied under Nobel laureates Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and Bill Phillips. He worked in Canberra from 1997 to 2007 and pursued Ph.D. studies at the Australian National University, focusing on the realization of a Magneto-Optic Trap using metastable Helium atoms. In 2002, he joined ANU as a postdoctoral fellow in a group led by Prof. David McClelland, focusing on gravitational wave detection. After moving to Singapore in 2007, he lectured in the Department of Physics at the National University of Singapore and has engaged in research on nano structures and innovative energy sources. Currently, he is involved in a Precision Agriculture project that welcomes candidates skilled in Machine Learning Algorithms.
