Mathieu Nendaz obtained his medical degree from the University of Geneva, specializing in internal medicine. His interest in medical education led him to the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he obtained a Master of Health Professions Education in 1999. Currently, he serves as an attending physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine at HUG (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève), and he is the head of the Unit Development Research in Medical Education (UDREM) within the Faculty of Medicine. In this role, he provides conceptual training support, assesses the quality of teaching, and promotes innovation in research related to medical education. Appointed as a full professor in October 2015, Nendaz primarily focuses on medical decision-making, clinical reasoning, and the interprofessional approach to the development of professional competence, ensuring that medical education meets international standards. He participates in international cooperation projects and has contributed to the development of medical curricula, notably in Kyrgyzstan. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Vice-Dean for undergraduate teaching and, as of July 15, 2023, he was appointed Vice-Dean for undergraduate training and the development of professional identity.
