Matthew obtained a PhD in Mathematics from University College London (UCL) and has more than twenty years of experience working in academia, holding senior academic management positions. He has managed change in large complex provisions and successfully designed and developed programs while leading large teams. Matthew teaches mainly mathematics and computing modules. His research interests include understanding how students obtain and internalize mathematical knowledge, and processes that encourage students to rationalize problem-solving. He has published several articles in mathematics education, practice, and pure mathematics research. Additionally, Matthew is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Currently, he is the Assessment Feedback lead for the School of Management.
