Dr. Matt Ludwig

Biography

Matt Ludwig is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He specializes in ancient Greek history, society, language, literature, and the reception of ancient Greece and Rome in popular culture. Ludwig holds a PhD in Classics from the University of Toronto, where he authored a dissertation on Sophoclean tragedy. He also served previously in a limited-term position as an Assistant Professor. His research interests span Greek tragedy, ancient literary criticism, the reception of classical works, the theory and politics of translation, pedagogy, and the Graeco-Roman poetic tradition. Ludwig has contributed to various academic publications, including book chapters and articles discussing critical aspects of translation and classical literature.
