Dr. Matthew Bonner

Biography

Matthew W. Bonner is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Education. He holds a Master of Science degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education from Old Dominion University. His research focuses on areas such as supervision of international students, support systems for Black men in academia, assessment in counseling, grading rigor, and gatekeeping in counselor education. Bonner has presented at regional and national conferences on ethical issues and spirituality in assessments of minority populations. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Counseling Association and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. In addition to his academic work, he is a licensed counselor in the state of Maryland, providing both paid counseling services and pro bono support through the Maryland Pro Bono Counseling Project.
