Dr. Matthew Mcglone

Biography

Matthew McGlone is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he specializes in communication and discourse studies. His research has been published in top journals such as Communication Monographs, Human Communication Research, and Annals Behavioral Medicine. Professor McGlone's scholarly interests span health communication, psychology, and discourse processes, contributing to significant findings in areas such as deception and persuasion. He has authored and edited multiple books, including 'Lying and Deception in Human Interaction' and 'Interplay of Truth and Deception'. His research has received funding from prominent organizations like the National Science Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. An active member of the academic community, McGlone has received numerous awards, including recognition from the U.S. Department of Education and the International Communication Association. He has also served as Chair for the NCA’s Division of Communication and Social Cognition and has directed the UTNY program. Professor McGlone teaches courses focused on language, persuasion, deception, and the dynamics of stereotyping and prejudice.
