Dr. Maureen Scheidnes

Biography

Maureen Scheidnes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She holds a B.A. from Beloit College and both an M.A. and Ph.D. from Université François-Rabelais de Tours. Her research interests focus on the development of morphosyntax in language acquisition, with a particular emphasis on comparing language acquisition in typically developing children to those with specific language impairment. In addition to her research, she teaches linguistics and French language courses at both beginner and advanced levels, and is cross-appointed to the Department of Linguistics and the Department of French & Spanish. Maureen is dedicated to exploring how children learn language and the factors that influence their linguistic abilities. Her work contributes to a deeper understanding of language development and its implications for education and intervention strategies.
