Biography

Max Spotti is an Associate Professor at the Department of Culture Studies, Tilburg University. He holds a B.Ed. (Hons) in English Language Primary Education from the University of Oxford and an MA in Applied Linguistics from Goldsmiths College, University of London. He completed his PhD in Sociolinguistic Ethnography at Tilburg University in 2007. His current research line focuses on digital literacies, examining the gains and losses young students face when navigating learning through classical literature, tablets, and gamification. He co-directed the Babylon Centre for the Study of Super-diversity, engages in teaching research skills with an ethnographic approach, and supervises PhD students exploring topics such as linguistic landscapes and language policies. Spotti has contributed to various publications addressing global education, digitalization, and challenges within super-diversity.
