Dr. Md Sarwar Hossain Sohel

Biography

Md Sarwar Hossain Sohel is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science and Sustainability at the University of Glasgow's School of Social & Environmental Sustainability. He serves as the Director of Postgraduate Programmes and Programme Director for the MSc in Environmental Risk Management. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, he worked at the Institute of Geography, University of Bern and the University of Southampton. He is a recipient of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Environmental Science from the University of Southampton, specializing in interdisciplinary social-ecological systems research. His research primarily focuses on applying the social-ecological systems (SES) approach to address sustainability challenges, such as food insecurity, climate change impacts, and water resource management, utilizing real-world case studies. His methodological expertise includes system dynamics, agent-based modeling, and network analysis. He has extensive experience analyzing national datasets relating to household income and expenditure. His interests extend to climate change adaptation, risk resilience, and the social dimensions of ecological systems at both local and global scales.
