Biography

Mengguo (Meng) Jing joined the Werklund School of Education as an Assistant Professor in 2025. She is a developmental educational psychologist whose research focuses on early childhood development in digital contexts. Her team conducts empirical research aimed at leveraging digital media technology to promote children’s well-being and cognitive development. Current work investigates learning transfer involved in children's interaction with digital media, emphasizing underlying cognitive processes such as visual attention, symbolic representation, and intuitive reasoning. Meng designs tests to explore media features that support early learning in vocabulary, mathematics, spatial reasoning, and science. Her line of inquiry also explores adolescent development with a particular emphasis on underrepresented communities.
