Biography

Michael Siegrist is a Full Professor in Consumer Behavior at ETH Zurich. He was born in 1965 in Vordemwald and studied psychology, economics, and mass communication at the University of Zurich. He began his academic career as a research assistant in the Psychology Department at the University of Zurich, where he completed his dissertation in 1994. After serving as a Project Manager at ZVSM (Central Association of Swiss Dairy Producers) and a visiting researcher at Western Washington University funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, he returned to the University of Zurich, taking on senior researcher roles. In 2001, he achieved 'Habilitation' in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Zurich. Since 2004, he has been involved in research and teaching at ETH Zurich, with research interests focused on risk perception, risk communication, the acceptance of new technologies, and decision-making under uncertainty. He has a particular interest in food consumer behavior.
