Biography

Michal Gath-Morad is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge's Department of Architecture, where she directs the Cambridge Cognitive Architecture research group. She holds a PhD in cognitive science and focuses her research on how architecture influences spatial cognition. Her work includes developing evidence-based design tools derived from behavioral findings and examining how these factors affect architects' thought processes and design communication. Her current research projects include Simulation-Powered Co-Design of Resilient Built Environments, supported by a Post.Doc Mobility grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation, and cogARCH, which links cognition with architecture, funded by an ETH innovatum grant. Gath-Morad's research interests encompass evidence-based design architecture, simulation-powered co-design in urban contexts, wayfinding, spatial cognition, and design cognition pedagogy.
