Biography

Micheal Rumore is a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, focusing on the intersections of literature, media, and communication. He received his PhD in English from the Graduate Center, City University of New York in 2021. His research interests span Indian Ocean studies, African diaspora studies, postcoloniality, and critical pedagogy, contributing to the scholarly discourse on marginalization in African diaspora narratives through the lens of Indian Ocean cosmopolitanism. Currently, he is engaged in a book project that reflects these themes. His work has been featured in forthcoming publications, including 'History Present,' 'Oil Fictions: World Literature Contemporary Petrosphere,' and 'Social Text Online,' highlighting his diverse expertise in literary cultural studies and media studies. With a robust academic background that also includes an MPhil in English and a BA in English and Writing, Rumore actively teaches and advocates for critical engagement with literature and culture.
