Dr. Michelle Meadows

Biography

Michelle Meadows is an Associate Professor at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. Her research interests focus on high-stakes assessments, including marking reliability, marker recruitment and retention, maintenance of standards, construct validity, malpractice, and washback effects in educational settings. She has conducted significant research in these areas, contributing to the understanding of educational qualifications and their implications for teaching and learning. Michelle has published extensively in academic books and journals and has presented her work at national and international conferences. She is a member of the Assessment Committee at the Institute of Directors, ensuring the quality of the Institute’s qualifications in business leadership. Prior to September 2021, she served as the Deputy Chief Regulator and Executive Director of Strategy, Risk, and Research at Ofqual, where she was responsible for supporting research development in high-stakes assessment. Michelle previously directed AQA's Centre for Education Research and Practice and was a member of AQA’s Executive Board, ensuring that the organization's strategy and products are based on robust research evidence. She welcomes doctoral applications from students interested in governance, education assessment standards, assessment policy, and inclusive assessment systems.
