Dr. Mira Sucharov

Biography

Mira Sucharov is an accomplished academician in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. She holds a PhD in Government from Georgetown University, an MA in Political Science from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Middle East Studies from McGill University. Her research encompasses a range of topics, including Israeli-Palestinian relations, Jewish politics, emotions and international relations, pedagogy, and narrative writing. Dr. Sucharov is also a prolific author, contributing works such as 'Borders Belonging: Memoir' and 'Public Influence: Guide to Op-Ed Writing Engagement'. Her co-editorial projects include 'Social Justice in Israel/Palestine' and 'Methodology of Emotion in International Relations'. Besides her scholarly commitments, she is a frequent media commentator and has appeared on various platforms including CBC and NPR. Dr. Sucharov has received numerous teaching awards, recognized for her significant contributions to education in public commentary and engagement with students and faculty. Her courses cover topics from Israeli-Palestinian relations to graphic novels and politics on Netflix. She is engaged in facilitating workshops for op-ed writing and is a founding co-chair of the Jewish Politics Division of the Association for Jewish Studies.
