Biography

Mireille Mathieu is a pioneer of cognitive behavioral therapy in Quebec and an internationally renowned psychologist. After obtaining a PhD in psychology from the University of Montreal, she began her career in 1970 and quickly gained an international reputation for her work in developmental psychology and primatology. She is credited with promoting and implementing cognitive behavioral approaches in psychotherapy in Quebec. Her contributions to couple therapy, sexual therapy, and social skill training have profoundly impacted her field. She has held various administrative positions at the University of Montreal, including Director of the Department of Psychology (1983-1987), Vice-Dean (1987-1993), and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (1993-2001). She also served as CEO of CLIPP, a center she created in 2000, and as Vice-Rector for International Relations (2008-2010).
