Biography

Miya Narushima is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Waseda University, Tokyo, and a Master’s degree and PhD in Adult Education and Community Development from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Her research interests focus on aging and well-being, community-based education, health promotion, lifelong learning and development, voluntarism, community capacity building, social determinants of health equity, and cross-cultural studies between Canada and Japan. As an avid qualitative researcher, her teaching areas encompass health promotion, qualitative research, social gerontology, and diversity in health.
