Biography

I am an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of English Language and Literatures and Chair of the Coordinated Arts Program. My research generally focuses on contemporary American poetry in relation to the crisis of memory, while my scholarship has turned to pedagogy, exploring the pedagogies of poetry and methods that incorporate cultural studies in the poetry classroom. I work on initiatives that promote equity in scholarly communication at UBC and have developed a TLEF-funded online teaching resource PASS (Precedents Archive Scholarly Speaking). I have published articles in journals such as English Studies in Canada, Memory Studies, and the Canadian Journal of Scholarship in Teaching and Learning. In recognition of my contributions to teaching, I am a proud recipient of the 2023 Killam Teaching Prize.
