Biography

Mollie McQuillan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned her PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University in 2019, where she also completed her master’s degree in the same field in 2014. Additionally, she holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Saint Thomas gained in 2005, and an AB in Political Science from the University of Chicago, obtained in 2000. Her research focuses on the intersection of educational policy with social relationships, particularly as they relate to gender-expansive students and educators. McQuillan has published a number of influential papers in top-tier academic journals, exploring themes such as gender-inclusivity in educational leadership and the mental health of transgender adolescents in school environments. Her work has been recognized with multiple awards, including the W.T. Grant Scholar designation and an Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association.
