Biography

Monica Ghosh, formerly known as Monica Richards, holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Iowa State University. Her research focuses on predicting differential intelligibility and comprehensibility effects of L2 English word stress errors in L1 and L2 listeners. She has been involved in postdoctoral work where she contributed to the English Speaking Consultation program at Iowa State University’s Center for Communication Excellence and authored the 'English Speaking Consultant Training Manual.' Currently, she serves as a lecturer in the ESL Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Throughout her career, she has taught various courses including international teaching assistant training and has led the program’s ITA/Pronunciation Rubrics & Objectives Committee, making significant contributions to the ITA curriculum. She has also contributed to the undergraduate writing, graduate business writing, and graduate academic writing courses within the Illinois ESL Program.
