Dr. Morten Bay

Biography

Morten Bay is an award-winning research fellow and lecturer at USC Annenberg, where he holds a PhD in information studies from UCLA. He has decades of experience researching the impact of emerging technologies on Western societies from both commercial and academic perspectives. Currently, he is pivoting his research towards the XR Metaverse and conducting experimental studies on the persuasiveness of immersive media, along with building ethical theories for policymaking regarding emerging formats. His research focuses on political communication and the impact of emerging media technology on democracy, social justice, and the economy. Prior to his work at UCLA, he authored five books published in Denmark, one of which, Generation Network, earned him the Future Award from the Danish Academy of Strategic Foresight. He has consulted for various governmental agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services, and has significant experience as a political communications strategist in the EU. As a journalist, Bay has contributed to major American media outlets and writes for leading Scandinavian publications. Since relocating to California in 2008, he has become a sought-after strategic consultant and public speaker, serving high-profile clients across various sectors.
