Professor Dr. Moshe Ben Shoshan

Biography

Moshe Ben-Shoshan studies the prevalence and potential determinants of food allergies and anaphylaxis in children. He has established a registry aimed at assessing triggers and management of chronic urticaria (hives). His research also includes primary immunodeficiencies, exploring the ability of children's immune systems to combat infectious diseases. In collaboration with Dr. Ann Clarke at the Montreal General Hospital MUHC, he has conducted a nationwide Canadian study to determine the prevalence of severe food allergies, revealing disparities between perceived and confirmed food allergies that contribute to a wide range of published prevalence estimates. In recent years, he has led a Canada-wide anaphylaxis registry to explore the societal burden, triggers, management, and natural history of anaphylaxis in Canadians.
