Naomi Hamer is an Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of English at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her scholarship focuses on the cross-media adaptation of children's literature, particularly in the context of picture books and digital cultures. She is a co-editor of significant works such as 'More Words About Pictures: Current Research on Picture Books and Visual/Verbal Texts for Young People' and 'The Routledge Companion of Fairy-tale Cultures and Media.' Hamer is currently a principal investigator on an SSHRC-funded project titled 'Curating Story Museum: Transmedia Practices, Participatory Exhibits, Youth Citizenship,' in collaboration with Dr. Ann Marie Murnaghan from York University. Hamer has contributed significantly to the field through her roles as President of the Association for Research on Cultures of Young People and Associate Editor for 'Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures.' In recognition of her dedication to teaching, she received the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2020.
