Biography

Nathaniel O. Brickens is a Professor of Trombone at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. He serves as the Music Director of the internationally-acclaimed UT Trombone Choir, where he teaches trombone students who have won numerous competitions including those sponsored by the International Trombone Association (ITA) and the American Trombone Workshop. Brickens is a recognized educator, receiving awards such as the ITA Humfeld Teaching Excellence Award and the College of Fine Arts Distinguished Teacher Award. He is also an active freelance trombonist and has performed with prestigious orchestras including the St. Louis Symphony and the Houston Symphony. Brickens has a notable presence on national stages and has performed with a variety of popular artists. He has toured extensively and acted as an artist/clinician for Edwards Musical Instruments, showcasing his expertise at festivals around the world. His educational background includes a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Music from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Music from Southern University.
