Biography

Nelson Roque is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Florida State University in 2018, where he also completed his M.S. in the same field in 2015 and received a B.S. in Psychology in 2012. His main research interests include cognitive aging, mHealth, attention, and the use of passive sensors in cognitive studies. He is actively involved in mentoring graduate students and has experience with interdisciplinary collaboration through roles he held at various institutions, including his previous position as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute on Aging. Roque has contributed to the field through various awards, including the UCF College of Sciences Excellence in Research and Creative Activities Celebration Award in 2022 and the Mark & Gloria Charness Cognitive Science Award in 2017. He leads initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the aging population through innovative technological applications.
