Biography

Dr. Nidhi Menon completed her PhD in Social Justice Education at the University of Toronto. Her scholarship and advocacy work is situated at the intersections of post-structural and marginalized feminist ontologies, focusing on ethics of care and power dynamics in the field of Early Childhood Studies. She employs the perspectives of women of color to examine and deconstruct the dominant constructions of childhood, especially concerning the lived experiences of marginalized families and children. With a commitment to making visible the voices of underrepresented populations, Dr. Menon has worked as a sessional faculty at the School of Early Childhood Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University for 12 years, teaching 4500 students across 30 courses and mentoring 300 students in their practicums. Her engagement with immigrant and refugee families has driven community collaborations, particularly with organizations focused on literacy and support for newcomer communities. Dr. Menon has expertise in qualitative research, creative arts-based methods, and feminist theories in early childhood education, and has received numerous awards and grants, including the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. Currently, she teaches multiple courses in Early Childhood Studies at the University of New Brunswick, including those focusing on literacy learning and feminist theory in education.
