I am an Assistant Professor of Cultural Studies. I am working on a book about how Big Tech colonizes everyday life (and how we can resist it). In addition to everyday life, my research interests include film and streaming media, feminism and queer studies, and literacy in all its analog and digital forms. I obtained my Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Minnesota in 2013, after which I became a researcher at the Cinema Studies Institute of the University of Toronto. Between 2019 and 2023, I worked at Radboud University Nijmegen. Since 2019, I have been working on the European Research Council-funded project 'Platform Discourses: Critical Humanities Approach Texts, Images, Moving Images Produced Big Tech Companies.' My book 'Miraculous Realism: French-Walloon Cinéma du Nord' was published by SUNY Press in 2020. I have also written essays on Apple, Black Panther and Kendrick Lamar, David Lynch, and The Matrix.
