Nina Zuna has over 15 years of experience working with children with disabilities and their families in a variety of roles, including as a researcher and a certified special education teacher. She specializes in conducting both quantitative and qualitative research aimed at understanding the individual and family characteristics as well as the systemic variables that impact the quality of life for families with children who have disabilities. Specific areas of her research interests include family quality of life, individual family supports across the lifespan, and the transition to adulthood for students with significant intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Zuna also conducts intervention research to enhance transition outcomes for students with autism and other significant intellectual developmental disabilities. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Kansas and has been actively involved in various councils and task forces focused on education and equity.
