Biography

Olga Volkoff is a retired Associate Professor in the Management Information Systems (MIS) department and former Associate Dean of Research for the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University (SFU). Although retired, she continues her research and holds a position as an adjunct professor. Her research primarily concerns how organizations utilize large packaged software to integrate operations across functional and organizational boundaries, along with the organizational changes associated with those efforts. Over the past decade, she has focused on enterprise systems, particularly SAP, and in recent years, she has been investigating the implementation of electronic health records. Her work employs critical realism and Affordance Theory as frameworks to understand the interactions of individuals and organizations with technological artifacts.
