Dr. Omar Al-Ghazzi is an Associate Professor and the Deputy Head of the Department of Education in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics. His academic work focuses on the geopolitics of global communications, particularly within news media and popular culture. Dr. Al-Ghazzi's educational background includes a PhD from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, along with advanced degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania and the American University, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the Lebanese American University. Before his time at LSE, he was a Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Sheffield. His research interests include Global Communication, Comparative Journalism, Digital Activism, and the intersections of Media & War in the context of the Middle East and North Africa.
