Dr. Pamela Hinchman

Biography

Pamela Hinchman is an Associate Professor of Voice at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, where she has taught since 2004. A versatile soprano, she has performed in major venues across the globe, including Italy, France, England, Israel, Mexico, and the United States. Ms. Hinchman studied at the Curtis Institute of Music under Gian-Carlo Menotti, who selected her for the title role in the world premiere of 'Bride of Pluto' at the Kennedy Center. She has appeared with numerous opera companies, including the San Francisco Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, and Florida Grand Opera, singing leading roles in classical repertory. Additionally, Ms. Hinchman has performed concert repertoire with distinguished orchestras, such as the National Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra, across notable festivals including Wolf Trap and the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center. Her teaching is deeply rooted in her belief in versatility and the Estill Vocal Technique, reflected in her students who have gone on to successful careers in both opera and Broadway. A recipient of multiple awards, including the Fulbright Grant, Ms. Hinchman is actively involved in cross-cultural music projects that promote peace and connection through music. She continues to develop programs that introduce living African composers' works to U.S. universities and is committed to sharing her experiences through master classes around the world.
