Dr. Pamela Newton

Biography

Pamela Newton is a lecturer in English with a focus on writing and literature. She holds an M.A. in English Language and Literature from Middlebury College and a B.A. in Drama from Northwestern University. With an extensive background as an art and culture journalist, her work has appeared in notable publications such as the Atlantic, LitHub, Huffington Post, New York Magazine, and American Theatre. Newton has taught a variety of literature and writing courses at both high school and college levels, including subjects like expository writing, non-fiction essay writing, dramatic literature, and urban American literature. She has a particular interest in teaching writing pedagogy broadly and has spent years teaching abroad in Germany. Her selected publications often explore themes of city life, childhood, and the intersection of theatre and politics. She is passionate about engaging students with the power of words and literature.
