Dr. Pasco Fearon

Biography

Pasco Fearon is a developmental clinical psychologist and leading researcher in child development and children’s mental health. He serves as the Director of the Centre for Family Research at the University of Cambridge, focusing on the caregiving factors that influence children’s psychological, emotional, cognitive, and psychobiological development. Professor Fearon is instrumental in the Children 2020s Study, a nationally representative birth cohort study funded by the Department of Education, and is also the co-director of the Early Life Cohort Feasibility Study, funded by the ESRC. He has collaborated internationally across various countries, engaging in mental health policy and ongoing clinical trials aimed at enhancing child and adolescent well-being. His expertise extends to large-scale longitudinal studies and clinical trials that test interventions for socio-economically disadvantaged populations, particularly concerning parental mental health and parenting support. He is a trustee of the Foundation Years Information Research charity and has played significant roles in national initiatives like the NICE guideline group on attachment. With extensive teaching experience, Pasco is a faculty member at Yale University’s Child Study Center and continues to supervise PhD students in his capacity at the Centre for Family Research.
