Dr. Patricia Fry

Biography

Patricia Fry is a Senior Researcher at the University of Bern, specializing in critical sustainability research. Her work focuses on social learning, multistakeholder discussion groups, and transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability. Fry has been instrumental in several EU-funded projects including JustREACH, which aims to support local authorities and communities in adapting to climate change. She has extensive experience teaching at ETH Zurich, where she developed and lectured on critical sustainability methods and fostered learning processes through innovative educational formats. Patricia's background includes a transdisciplinary PhD, wherein she explored the intersection of social and natural sciences, particularly focusing on soil health and sustainable practices in Swiss agriculture. As a founding director of her own enterprise, she pioneered the social learning video method, facilitating collaboration among scientists, practitioners, and policymakers. Over her career, she has published numerous articles and book chapters addressing the challenges of transdisciplinarity in sustainability education and practice.
