Paul B. Foster received his Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Literatures from Ohio State University. His specialty is in the study of Lu Xun and modern Chinese literature. Foster has authored 'Jin Yong's Martial Arts Fiction: The Kungfu Industrial Complex' and 'Ah Q Archaeology: Lu Xun, Ah Q, and National Character Discourse in Twentieth-Century China'. He teaches a spectrum of Chinese language courses and is passionate about introducing students to contemporary Chinese culture through various media. Foster has developed and co-directed summer study programs in China and views study abroad experiences as crucial to students' education. He serves as a co-principal investigator on an instructional materials grant and is a member of the editorial board for 'China Currents'. Foster sponsors several student groups, aligns with interests in martial arts fiction and enjoys activities such as climbing and ultra-endurance biking. He received the Ivan Allen College's E. Roe Stamps Excellence in Teaching Award as a Junior Faculty member in 2002/3.
