Biography

Paul Hurley is a transdisciplinary artist-researcher working in universities, specialising in creating qualitative, participatory artistic research, public engagement, and communication projects. His background spans Performance, Participatory Art, and More-than-human Geography. He has engaged in impact-led collaborations across various fields including Agriculture, Theology, Biology, Veterinary Science, Medical Humanities, and Nursing Engineering. In 2022, Paul began his role at the Centre for Higher Education Practice at the University of Southampton, focusing on researcher development programs. His research interests encompass more-than-human worlds, relational practices, identities, cultural knowledge, and agency. He has worked on projects related to agri-environment policy, farmed animal welfare, infection prevention, and meat-eating masculinities, alongside GCRF initiatives concerning environmentalism and antimicrobial resistance within food chains. Through research and public engagement in participatory art, Paul explores the potential of spaces for addressing ideas and issues.
