Biography

Payal Arora is a leading digital anthropologist with over a decade of experience focusing on user experiences and inclusive technologies, especially in the Global South. She is the co-founder of the Inclusive AI Lab, which aims to drive technology initiatives that are inclusive and equitable. As a prominent author, she has published over 100 journal articles and several award-winning books, including 'Billion Users' published by Harvard Press. Her works explore themes around feminist futures and inclusive technology design. Arora's contributions to the field have garnered her recognition; she was named one of the 'next billion champions' by Forbes and listed among the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2025. Her book 'From Pessimism to Promise: Lessons from the Global South on Designing Inclusive Tech' was longlisted for the 2024 Porchlight Business Book Awards, highlighting her innovative approaches to technology. Arora’s work has been featured in over 200 international media outlets such as Financial Times, Wired, and BBC. She has also consulted for major organizations including the UNHCR, Spotify, and Google, and has delivered more than 350 keynote speeches in 85 countries, making significant contributions at renowned events like the World Economic Forum and TEDx talks.
