Biography

Peggy Hedges is a Teaching Professor and Teaching Fellow at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, where she teaches Finance and Strategy. She holds a B.Sc. in Botany and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Calgary, as well as a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning from the University of Strathclyde. Peggy is an esteemed Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) and the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). She has served as Academic Director of the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies and Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at Haskayne. Her teaching encompasses undergraduate and graduate executive education, particularly in introductory finance courses, and she has developed and taught subjects such as corporate, personal, and public finance, as well as capital budgeting. Peggy has been recognized with nominations for the University of Calgary Student’s Union Teaching Excellence Award and has received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence. She holds the Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE) designation from the Chartered Association of Business Schools and has published research on entrepreneurship, classroom pedagogy, and financing for small businesses, in addition to co-authoring textbooks on corporate financial management and investment portfolios. Before her academic tenure, Peggy worked as a commercial lending manager at a major Canadian financial institution.
