Biography

Peter Prinzie's research focuses on behavioral and parenting issues. He obtained his PhD in 2002 from the Catholic University of Leuven and has previously worked at Leiden University and Utrecht University. His research centrally explores how the complex interactions between parent and child personality, combined with upbringing and other factors, influence the development of children and adolescents. This question is studied from a life course perspective, paying specific attention to the causes of behavioral and parenting problems and critical transitions to adolescence and young adulthood. Prinzie has also built expertise in intervention studies aimed at reducing parenting and behavioral issues ('Alles Kidzzz') and supporting youth in grief processing ('Rouwhulp'). He authored the book 'Waarom doet mijn kind zo moeilijk' (2007) and specializes in fundamental and practice-oriented research on parenting children and youth with physical disabilities and specific genetic syndromes.
