Biography

Known for his virtuoso energy on stage and creative musical arrangements, Peter Stoll is a prominent performer within orchestral and chamber music groups in Toronto. He has toured as a soloist in the USA, Europe, Russia, Japan, and China. In 2019, he was awarded the Dora Mavor Moore Award as part of Ensemble-Opera. His recent highlights include performances in concerts at Music Toronto and Maison de la Culture Frontenac in Montreal, as well as the Toronto premiere of a new work by Alexina Louie with the Gryphon Trio. Peter has worked with esteemed composers such as Kryzstof Penderecki, Chen Yi, and Anders Hillborg. In January 2018, he led master classes at universities in Colorado, USA. His commitment to innovative music is exemplified through his recording with members of the Canadian Brass, and he has conducted the Canadian premiere of Brian Balmages' concerto 'Escapades'. A dedicated educator, Stoll teaches clarinet, chamber music, performance studies, and 'The Business of Music' at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. As the Winds Area Specialist at the Royal Conservatory of Music's National College of Examiners, he compiles syllabi and serves the clarinet community through mentorship and instruction.
