Biography

Phil McAleer graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 with a B.Sc. in Psychology and completed his Ph.D. in 2006 at the PACo Lab, focusing on 'Understanding Intentions from Animacy Displays Derived from Human Motion'. He has worked on post-doctoral research examining intent perception in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and CCTV operators. For two years, he was a post-doc in the Voice Neurocognition Lab at Glasgow, investigating how perceived personality traits are conveyed through voices. Since becoming a Lecturer in 2012, he primarily teaches Statistics and Research Methods and is strongly committed to promoting reproducible research practices. McAleer is actively engaged in improving teaching practices in statistics education, especially within higher education settings.
