Philip Vandermey is a Dutch-Canadian architect and Founding Partner of the award-winning architecture office SPECTACLE Bureau for Architecture and Urbanism Inc. He studied architecture at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) at the University of Calgary, where he received the Canadian Architect Student Award of Excellence and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Student Medal. Vandermey has taught as a Sessional Instructor at SAPL since 2008 and became a part-time Assistant Professor in 2023, managing the Master of Architecture program. In 2025, he and Andjelic opened a research lab called Change Directive, aiming to create speculative visions that explore the evolving relationship between architecture and cities. Vandermey is particularly interested in uncovering implicit systems within architecture and revealing possibilities that reshape architectural practice.
