Dr. Pnina Alon Shenker

Biography

Pnina Alon-Shenker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law & Business at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. With a foundational role as the Academic Director of the Law & Business Clinic, she has also served as a law clerk for the Honourable Justice Dalia Dorner of the Supreme Court of Israel from 2002 to 2003 and was called to the Israeli Bar in 2003. She obtained her LL.B. from Haifa University, followed by an LL.M. and S.J.D. from the University of Toronto. Dr. Alon-Shenker began her academic career at Toronto Metropolitan University as a sessional instructor in 2009 and progressed to an Assistant Professor in 2010. Her research primarily focuses on labor and employment law, emphasizing workplace discrimination, diversity, the aging workforce, and forms of employee representation. Her recent research addresses innovative critiques of contemporary legal analysis on age discrimination in the workplace, aiming to establish a new legal-philosophical framework. She advocates for the rights of senior workers and contributes to scholarly literature through various publications, notably co-editing major labor law texts and journals. Recognized for her contributions to experiential teaching and scholarly work, she has received prestigious awards, including the Dean’s Scholarly Research and Creative Activity Award (2014) and the Provost's Experiential Teaching Award (2016).
