Dr. Quentin Riser

Biography

Quentin Riser is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development & Family Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research primarily focuses on the ways that birth, child, and family characteristics, along with public policies, influence children's cognitive and social-emotional development as well as family well-being. Riser employs quantitative research methods and study designs in the developmental family sciences area, utilizing secondary and administrative data sources in his work. His aim is to inform the development and implementation of evidence-based policy interventions on local, national, and international levels. Riser has co-authored various publications on topics such as social-emotional development in children, the effects of early income variation on poverty thresholds, and the role of noncustodial parents in child support compliance. He is a Dean's Equitable Early Lifespan Faculty Fellow and is committed to addressing issues affecting child development and family dynamics through his research and scholarship.
