Biography

Rainer Winkelmann joined the University of Zurich as Professor for Statistics and Empirical Economic Research in 2001. He studied economics at the University of Konstanz, Paris IX-Dauphine, and Washington University in St. Louis, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Munich (1993). He has taught at Dartmouth College in the USA and the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and has been a visiting professor at Harvard University, Syracuse University, and UCLA. His research interests are in micro-econometrics, focusing particularly on models for discrete data and panel data, as well as applications related to social policy analysis, work, and family well-being.
