Biography

Raj Reddy is the Moza Bint Nasser University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in the School of Computer Science, specializing in areas such as human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence. He was a faculty member at Stanford University from 1966 to 1969 before joining Carnegie Mellon, where he has played a pivotal role since 1969. He served as the founding Director of the Robotics Institute from 1979 to 1991 and later held the position of Dean of the School of Computer Science from 1991 to 1999. Reddy is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He served as president of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence from 1987 to 1989 and is a recipient of prestigious awards, including the ACM Turing Award in 1994, the highest honor in Computer Science, and the Vannevar Bush Award in 2006 for lifetime contributions to science.
