Raquel Amorese is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at Northwestern University. She holds an M.A. in Spanish Literature and Linguistics from Baylor University and an M.A. in Portuguese Language and Literature from Pontifícia Universidade Católica Paraná. Currently, she is pursuing doctoral studies in Spanish and Portuguese at Vanderbilt University. Her research interests include Language Acquisition, Foreign Languages Pedagogy, Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics, and Twentieth-Century Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures. Raquel has presented her work both nationally and internationally, with her latest book translation, H20: Aguacero, published by ArtePoética Press in New York in 2017. At Northwestern, she coordinates the Portuguese Language program and teaches elementary and intermediate Spanish courses. She has received grants to enhance undergraduate curricular innovation and development and was awarded the Weinberg Arts & Sciences Alumni Teaching Award in 2017. Raquel is actively involved in departmental and university committees and is a member of the Council on Language Instruction and the Fellow Public Affairs Residential College.
