Dr. Ravi Parekh

Biography

Ravi Parekh is the Director of the Medical Education Innovation and Research Centre (MEdIC) at Imperial College London, which was founded in 2019. The centre uniquely integrates community needs with educational innovation in medical education, striving for a positive and sustainable impact on society. In June 2022, he received the prestigious Imperial College President's Medal for his contributions to teaching innovation. MEdIC has gained an international reputation for excellence in medical education, securing numerous awards and funding for research, and has been active in peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. He has established collaborations with several universities including Harvard, Melbourne, Fukushima, and Cape Town. Additionally, Ravi leads outreach programs aimed at widening participation among Year 12 students interested in healthcare careers, providing work experience and mentoring. He oversees MEdIC’s masterclasses, offering free online webinars for UK medical students, particularly from widening participation backgrounds. His extensive experience in teaching, assessment, and curriculum design is complemented by a focus on students' preparation for practice, diversity, and inclusion. He is an external examiner for UCL and QMUL’s MBBS programmes and serves as an academic tutor. Ravi’s innovative teaching methodologies include leading courses in longitudinal learning and Integrated Clinical Apprenticeship. He is also involved with various committees at the School of Public Health and interviews candidates for ACF and AFP programs in London.
