Biography

Rebecca Gotlieb is a human developmental psychologist and educational neuroscientist. She is currently an Assistant Researcher at the School of Education and Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Gotlieb’s research focuses on the coordinated development of literacy and social-emotional functioning from early childhood to young adulthood, with a strong emphasis on the role of narrative skills. She is a contributing member of the Center for Dyslexia, Diverse Learners, and Social Justice, which is part of the UC|CSU Collaborative Neuroscience, Diversity, Learning initiative. As a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, Dr. Gotlieb has led numerous federally and privately funded research projects, and her work has been published in top academic journals. She holds a B.A. with High Honors in Psychological and Brain Sciences from Dartmouth College, and completed her Ph.D. as a National Science Foundation Research Fellow in the Center for Affective Neuroscience, Development, Learning, and Education at the University of Southern California. She also completed post-doctoral training at UCLA. Dr. Gotlieb’s expertise includes Human Development, Psychology, Language, Literacy, Learning Sciences, Neuroscience, and Disability Studies.
